Character Name: Seto Kaiba
Series: Yu-Gi-Oh (Duel Monsters anime, 4Kids adaptation)
Tell Me About Them “Personality”:
Distrusting/Suspicious: It's lonely at the top, as Kaiba knows far too well. Both his childhood and his current office have exposed him to countless grifters and backstabbers, and in the business world there's no such thing as altruism. To him everyone has an angle, and he hasn't experienced much in the way of real human kindness---of course, his hyper-defensive prickly attitude pushes his classmates and fellow duelists away.
Of course, he can afford to do this because he's very secure in his place as the most powerful man in town. Removed from all of that, he's still sensible and business-minded enough to not immediately burn all his bridges. He'll extend conditional respect to a point, so long as the other party isn't woefully incompetent.
Cutthroat/Competitive: One of the few things that brings Kaiba some level of fulfillment in lieu of close personal relationships is competition. He loves to show off his superior skills, especially when tested against a worthy opponent. He was once the holder of the title King of Games, and when a certain spiky-haired boy took it from him, getting it back became his life's goal. He's determined to prove his worth on the world's stage.
Haughty/Arrogant: There are also, of course, a great many people that Kaiba deems unworthy. He thinks very highly of his skill and intelligence, and his company's results and his dueling rank back up most of the big talk. But he's lacking in grace and manners. He's quick to shoot off an insult when someone asks a 'stupid' question, especially if the asker has been slow to catch on in the past. Those who have earned his (grudging) respect with their skill are usually afforded some leeway, but he still loves his quips.
Protective/Loyal: For all of his spiky outer shell, Kaiba does have one large soft spot: his younger brother, Mokuba. Kaiba did his best to protect his brother from the worst of their stepfather's abuse in childhood, and after being set back on the right path, he's dedicated nearly all of his actions since to protecting him. He's committed illegal acts (hacking), jumped into the fray against better judgment, and personally beat up any obstacle standing between himself and protecting Mokuba.
He also has a strong streak of contempt for bullies and abusers, despite showing shades of that behavior to those he deems unworthy. As someone who was orphaned for a while, he at times shows uncharacteristic compassion for abandoned children, such as his encounter with a small boy in the streets of Egypt. As a child his original goal in taking over Kaiba Corporation was to turn the company from weapons development to gaming development to bring joy to children, and though experience hardened his heart over the years, it's still there.
Stubborn/Determined: Kaiba doesn't believe in such a thing as impossibility, which is unusual for someone so resistant to the idea of the existence of magic. He believes in pushing science to its absolute limit to achieve the allegedly impossible. This has included lifelike holograms, solid holograms that affect the tangible world, and in his greatest act of stubbornness? Punching a hole in the fabric of reality to enter the Egyptian afterlife, all in the name of dueling his greatest rival one more time.
He has never won a duel against Yugi or Atem, but he's never allowed that inconvenient fact to get him down. Every defeat only pushes him harder to innovate and improve. He's beaten the odds through duels to stop hostile takeovers of his company, he's pushed the limits of technology to make his mark, and he'll never give up when his goal is important enough.

Canon point: A note on the dub canon: in the original Japanese, Dark Side of Dimensions is set in the manga continuity. Kaiba's obsession with finding Atem in the movie hinges on the fact that he did not witness the ceremonial duel and Atem's goodbye as he did in the anime. The 4Kids dub places the movie after the anime, simply retconning the ceremonial duel to remove Kaiba.
Possessions:
(s) Duel Monsters deck (deck of 40 playing cards)
(s) metal briefcase, containing nothing but hundreds more playing cards
(s) Locket, containing his little brother's picture
