nightmare within (cw: implied death, allusions to past evil deeds and child abuse)
After he returns home, night is a different story. Kaiba thinks he's safe, and yet...
Kaiba is falling, falling, surrounded by shards of glass. Each shard reflects the pained face of a person he's hurt: an innocent person terrorized for his business goals, a card player in the way of his total domination...his brother, cowering away from his rage. The screams blend into a roar tearing at him, and...
The scene shifts, and instead he's suspended in the air by ribbons in a variety of colors. Each appears to be held by the indistinct ghostly form of someone who might be an ally or friend. Their smiling faces give him a moment of reprieve, and then...glass shards fall and hit the ghostly forms of people he might form bonds with, their smiling faces turning to disgust. They let go as if burned. And Kaiba falls again, straight into a drab and desolate cage. The door slams shut, and familiar cold laughter echoes in his ears.
"Only a fool denies who they are...and I didn't raise a fool."
