"The Ishtar family have been tasked with taking care of and guarding the Pharaoh's tomb and secret since his death... Because of him, I didn't have a life of my own until I betrayed our family and left."
The blonde averts his gaze, looking down at his bed and staring through it. How much does he tell him? Should it just be a cursory explanation? It's probably best not to admit every sin he's committed right off the bat.
"In hindsight I probably should have stayed with my sister. Her business was and is far more successful and safe than my own. But I was so angry, so bitter... I wanted to do whatever I could just because, you know? To make it my life. Not some useless, enslaved tomb keeper..." He sighs. "... The taste of freedom and power went to my head."
Marik pauses for now in case Kaiba wishes to interject any before he continues.
